Requesting and managing Work Orders

How to easily create, manage, and track your Work Orders

Work Orders are your go-to solution for custom inventory tasks, giving you the flexibility to adapt your stock to your business needs. Whether you need to measure dimensions, check labels, take product photos, or bundle items into kits, the Work Orders feature makes it simple to request and track these tasks directly within the Borderless360 app.

Here’s how to easily create, manage, and track your Work Orders.


What You Can Do with Work Orders

Use Work Orders to handle a variety of tasks, including:

  • Measuring dimensions and weights
  • Checking labels and barcodes
  • Taking product photos
  • Repackaging SKUs into kits and bundles
  • Dekitting stock
  • and more...

How to Request a Work Order

  1. Navigate to the Work Orders Page
  1. Start a New Request: Click the Add Work Order button and fill in the details:
  • Reference: Leave blank to auto-generate a unique reference.
  • Notes: Provide detailed instructions, including SKUs, quantities, or specific requirements.
  • Example:
    • Dekit 10 units of SKU: TREE004 into 40 units of SKU: TREE001.
    • Dekit 15 units of SKU: GRASS003 into 45 units of SKU: GRASS001.
  • 3PL: Choose the location where the task should be completed.

Pro Tip: Be as specific as possible in your notes to ensure a smooth process.

 
  1. Review and Start
    1. Once you’re satisfied with the details, click Start Work Order in the top-right corner.

This action:

  • Notifies the Borderless360 team.
  • Creates a ticket directly linked to the Work Order.
  • Updates the Work Order History with a hyperlink to the related ticket.

Tracking Your Work Orders

Once submitted, tracking the progress of your Work Orders is easy:

 
  1. Go to the Work Orders page in the sidebar.
  1. Use the List View to see a snapshot of all your Work Orders, including:
      • Reference Number: The unique ID for your Work Order.
      • Status: See whether it’s in Draft, In Progress, or Completed.
      • Assigned 3PL: The warehouse handling the request.
      • Notes: Any additional details or comments.
 
  1. Click on a Work Order for a more detailed view, including:
      • Related transactions like service descriptions, costs, and invoice numbers.
      • A billing summary with the total amount charged for the Work Order.

Pro Tip: Use tags to organize and filter Work Orders. Add tags before starting the Work Order to make them visible in related tickets.


Editing and Adding Tags

Custom tags help categorize and filter your Work Orders for better organization.

  • Click the Tags icon under the Work Order reference.
  • Add or create tags in the editor, then click Save.
  • Tags will appear under the Work Order reference and in the history.

Work Order Completion

Once a Work Order is completed:

  • Its status will change to Completed.
  • Any associated costs will be included in the Detail View under transactions, with the invoice linked for easy reference.
 

Turnaround Time: Most Work Orders are completed within 1–3 business days. Larger or more complex tasks may take longer, and we’ll keep you updated via the linked ticket.
