FedEx variable residential delivery charge explained: Oct. 31, 2022–Jan. 15, 2023

The percentage increase is determined by dividing the number of packages shipped during the week by the established baseline number (determined from June 6, 2022 – July 3, 2022) and then multiplying by 100. For example, if a company’s baseline number is established at 15,000 packages a week, and they ship 30,000 packages during the week of Oct. 17 – Oct. 23, the Peaking Factor would be 200%. The rate corresponding to the Peaking Factor will be applied two weeks later, which in this example would be Nov. 7 – Nov. 13.

UPS variable surcharges explained: October 30, 2022 until January 14, 2023

These surcharges will impact customers who ship more than 20,000 packages during any week in this time period. Charges will be applied weekly to each package over 105% of the customer’s baseline weekly average volume for the applicable service level. The more customers surpass this baseline, the greater surcharge they will incur.
