Here's a description of terms you may come across while using Borderless 360:


Integration
The process of bringing together component sub-systems to work together as one system.

Courier
A company that delivers messages, packages, and mail. 

Consignment
Selling on consignment is when vendors retain ownership of their products and contract with other retailers to store and sell those products. 

Software as a service (SaaS)
A software licensing and delivery model in which software is licensed on a subscription basis and is centrally hosted. 

Application programming interface (API)
A set of clearly defined methods of communication between various software components. 

Warehouse management system (WMS) A software application designed to support and optimize warehouse or distribution centre management. 

Content management system (CMS)
A software that supports the creation and modification of digital content. 

Admin operator An administrator, granted certain admin privileges, who helps to validate users and monitor a multi-user system. 

Third-party logistics provider (3PL)
A company that manages elements of another company's distribution and fulfilment services. 

Business use case
A list of actions or event steps typically defining the interactions between a role and a system to achieve a goal. 

Domestic and international concept
The presentation of both domestic and international rates. Tracking integration Shipment tracking updates and associated notifications. 

Marketplace
An e-commerce website where product or service information is provided by multiple third parties and transactions are processed by the marketplace operator (eg Amazon, eBay).

Shipping option mapping
The process of fetching shipping service information from a third-party, such as a Shopping cart, to identify a suitable shipping provider. 

Fulfil
To get draft orders ready for manifesting.

Manifest (verb)
To get fulfilled orders ready for shipping.

Ship
To get a manifested orders shipped to receivers.

Refulfil
To repeat a fulfilled order.

Shopping cart
A website where retailers transact (eg Neto, Shopify). 

Manifest (noun)
A summary (printed hard copy) given to a courier of orders contained in a shipment. Shipping label A label affixed to a package showing the tracking number and receiver's address.

Packing slip
A summary (printed hard copy) included inside a package of orders it contains. 

Commercial invoice
A receipt (printed hard copy) included inside a package of orders it contains. In-Store order A new order created from existing inventory. 

Ad-Hoc order
A new order created without existing inventory. 

Manual order
A new order processed outside of Borderless 360. 

Receiver
A person or organisation receiving a shipped order.
